A wonderful idea: celebrating a wedding abroad, far away from everyday life, in a special place. And doing so surrounded by the people who matter to you. Getting married in South Africa, on a Swiss alpine pasture, in Rome \u2013 at first, it sounds like a dream come true for couples getting married and their closest confidants.

Nevertheless, you should expect that not all invited guests will immediately picture sun and sea, champagne and cocktails, festivity and escapism at the mention of the words \u201eDestination Wedding.\u201c Given the long journey, some will have completely different associations in mind: people stranded at airports or crowding onto train platforms because flights have been canceled or train connections disrupted. Depending on the countries your guests are traveling from, such scenarios are indeed not all that far-fetched.

Yet before you start asking yourselves: Can I inflict this on my guests? The good news is: As an experienced wedding planner, I am prepared for such unpredictability.
